ALASKA PRINTS

During my time living in Seward, Alaska I was deeply inspired by the landscape that I lived and worked in every day. One of the defining experiences of my time there was the first time I saw the northern lights. A phone call from a friend woke me up just after 1am - we ran the two blocks to the beach and laid on the rocky shore. The brightest, most mystifying green bands of light were expanding and contracting all over the sky and around the mountains. The northern lights felt alive, like we were watching the cosmos breathe.

This led me to make the print “Night Lights” (far left).

My other print, “Lil Bears”, was a fun way to remind myself how closely my life in Alaska overlapped with the lives of forest creatures. It was not unheard of to have bears and moose wandering in town. Exploring nature in bear country meant doing so with a deep sense of mindfulness and respect. Plus, bears are just really cute.
